Feedback from Instructors
"The instructors were extremely professional and knowledgeable. They are concerned about their students and it is evident. They will teach you the fundamentals of riding on a motorbike. This class is highly recommended for any motorcycle rider, no matter their age or previous experience.
The instruction in the classroom was insightful and thought-provoking. The riding instruction was a combination of both the theory and the practice, but the real highlight was the feedback from the instructor. They didn't say "OK", but they gave you the reasons why you did it wrong. For instance, "You looked down at the handlebars", "You gave it too many gas", "Your wrists are bent", "You shifted too early", or "You weren’t pushing down on your foot peg". Then they explained to you how to fix it.
This kind of personal coaching is the kind of coaching you get in a high-quality training course and is what differentiates this class from many other classes. Some riders might consider this to be harsh however in my opinion it's necessary to give the student the best chance of passing the test and remaining safe on the bike.
I've taken courses in the past and the instructor never gave me any feedback. If a student doesn't pose a clear danger or hindering the advancement of others in the group, there's no reason why instructors should have the final word on whether or not a student is able to pass the course.
I believe that any moto school that does not offer personal coaching is missing an essential element of their curriculum and does not deserve the high marks they are awarded in student reviews. The best way to learn quickly and safely is to go through the Basic RiderCourse followed by private lessons. You can learn from an experienced instructor to avoid making mistakes and start riding with confidence and knowledge you will use for an entire lifetime. A majority of states will waive the written and riding license endorsement tests for students who have completed a specialized RiderCourse, and some insurance companies offer discounts for those who complete a course.
Final Exam

During the second half of the course you will learn about road skills, such as the ability to brake and accelerate, shifting gears, turning and steering. This part of the course is completed when you pass an evaluation of your riding skills. This part of the class is what determines if you will receive your motorcycle license waiver card. The test will cover actions that the DMV driver examiner will search for during your test to determine your license. It's fine if you don't pass the exam. Keep up the good work and do your best to pass next time.
If you pass the test the instructor will give you a certificate of completion that can be used for a reduction in insurance for motorcycles. You will also be a licensed motorcycle rider and will be able to legally ride your motorcycle on the streets.
